Holy Week Mission Trip 2019

For the 3rd year in a row we went, as a family, on a Holy Week Mission Trip to Winder GA.  We stay at the Carmel retreat center with many other families and spend the week in service, prayer, and fellowship.  We gathered prayer requests in trailer parks by knocking on doors, and then nail them to the cross and process the cross up at mass and pray for all the requests.  We made gifts and visited the lonely in a nursing home.  We put on a cookout, Easter egg hunt, soccer tournament and Christ's Closet (give away of clothing, shoes and toys) in the trailer park.  We evangelized and invited people to the Holy Week services and the outdoor adoration of the blessed sacrament.  And we spent much time in prayer with adult and kids tracts - like a mini retreat - and went to all the Holy Week services at church.  The missions, though not far or big in any way, has made a huge impact on our family these past few years.  It is a tangible way to put others before ourselves and serve as Christ did, alongside others, in the holiest of weeks of the whole year.  The bonds we have formed with other families and priests and religious through this process has been a priceless and beautiful side effect.
The kids acted out the stations of the cross for all of us and even the little guys participated - Samuel and his buddy John Daniel were the guards at the tomb.
Henry was one of the Roman soldiers

And so was Nicholas

Great job kids!
For Christ's closet, Henry made a sign which was admired by the Fr. Martin.
It was a cool and rainy day for the cookout and Christ Closet but we did the best we could with tarps and tents.
It's a rough trailer park but the people are always so grateful to come and be able to shop and take whatever they want
Not the best cookout weather but these guys were making the best of it and still all smiles

Even had music and some line dancing!
Thank you Regnum Christi for providing these opportunities of service and spiritual growth for our whole family!!
