The End of the School Year

We celebrated the final day of school year with a a home school version of the awards ceremony. Each child was called to the front of the fireplace and commended for their specific accomplishments and hard work this school year. Then each was presented with a certificate.  In addition to their subject studies, the kids all had a big lesson in flexibility and sacrifice this year and I have to admit, they have all handled it like champs - probably better than Shawn and I have.  And what valuable lessons to learn!!  We are so proud of them for working each day to continue to become the best version of themselves God created them to be.

This year Samuel, learned to read, made great strides in his handwriting and drawing, was a good friend playing well with kids at school and siblings at home, and was a super strong soccer and basketball player.  He successfully completed Pre-K!

Henry earned all A's in second grade!   He transitioned into chapter books and developed a stronger love of reading, had fun soccer and basketball seasons, advanced to the next rank in scouts, and even started his own weekly prayer group at recess (before Covid19 hit).  Great job Henry!

Grace loved learning in 3rd grade and earned all A's!  She has become an avid reader, finding lots of new series she enjoys.  She loved her first year in Odyssey of the Mind, and also loved playing on a couple soccer teams this year.  Although she didn't get to play many games with her Santos team due to Covid19, she did continue with regular and difficult workouts every single day, helping her team win first place in the virtual points competition.  She also grew in her friendships with some great girls in her class this year which was beautiful to see.  What a great year for Grace!

It was another year of straight A's for Nicholas in the 5th grade!  He was in the Math and Language Arts enrichment program, and really enjoyed all he learned this year.  He won the school and the archdiocese religion bee and also won 3rd place out of 700+ in the Duke Tip Nationwide creative writing contest.  He had a fun and successful year in Odyssey of the Mind, Robotics Club, swimming and basketball.  He advanced from Cub scouts to Boy Scouts and continues to play piano and loves to read!  Great job Nicholas!

We celebrated the last day of school with an ice cream sundae party!

For their "end of the year" prize, each kid chose a book they wanted us to buy them and we also converted the train table to a Lego table as a gift to all of them.  They were SUPER excited about this!!!

That weekend the ice cream truck also made the rounds in the neighborhood and for first time ever they were each able to get a treat :-)
