Nicholas caught a bad virus at the beginning of the school year, and while he had been toughing it out still going to XC practices and meets, he did not feel himself all season. He tested negative for flu, COVID, mono, and everything else but he's been unable to shake the cough and has gotten significant chest pain and shortness of breath when running at top pace, in several meets now. We ended up having him see a pulmonologist followed by a pediatric cardiologist because they were very concerned for viral myocarditis. Thankfully his echo was normal and that was ruled out. They sent him to CHOA however for a exercise stress test with PFT's etc to rule out a couple other lung and cardiac issues. It was a huge answer to our prayers that all the testing turned out normal and confirmed that he is in great shape with a very healthy heart and lungs. In the end, it was all attributed to just a long post viral syndrome affecting his lungs, that resulted in a tough XC season - he never beat any of his times from freshman year and in fact ran a few minutes slower in several of his races. But THANK GOD, most importantly, he is healthy!!! There is always next season. We are so grateful he is now finally getting better and all testing turned out with good news!

I took Sam to the Youth Day parade this year - it was fun seeing some friends on some of the floats, and of course getting a ton of candy is fun too!

Big milestone - Nicholas learned a to shave!
Sam played in 3 baseball tournaments this month with his new BSBL team. Unfortunately they lost all their games, but he did have fun. He enjoys playing catcher, first base, outfield and pitching a little.
Henry ran in the GA Middle School State Championships and did great - he ran 2 miles in the club division and placed 8th in the state with a 12:42 time! Way to go Henry!
He has a fun group and Coach Matthew continues to help them all!
Shawn I enjoyed some snuggles with the O'Connor twins at some of the baseball tournaments.
Grace's 8th grade class planted daffodil bulbs in memory of the Holocaust victims.
Samuel's 4th grade class brought some cheer to the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Home - a charity hospice cancer care home run by the Hawthorne Dominican Sisters.

Henry is in 7th grade band playing percussion again this year and really enjoying it. He had a neat experience to be "Drummer for a Day" at Blessed Trinity High School football game. He played with the HS drumline before and after the game and sat with them the whole game. He played great!!
I took Grace to a weekend swim meet at Auburn and the girl keeps setting new records and swimming great! She swam the 500 for the first time and loved it!
As part of student council, Henry helped serve cake to the whole school in celebration of the 25th anniversary for QA School.
Grace went on her 8th grade retreat to Covecrest and had a wonderful time!!

Henry was excited to run the Holy Halloween 5K benefiting Catholic Charities. He was running great and really on track to place in the top 3 at least but unfortunately he he a sudden pain in his foot that took him to the ground and he could not finish the race - he limped across the finish line. After x-rays and MRI's it was determined he had sesamoiditis and he struggled with that the last part of this XC season.
