Happy Thanksgiving

This year we stayed home for the holidays.  It was a little strange to not be with extended family for either Thanksgiving or Christmas but it was also nice not to have the stresses of travel with the kids and new baby.  We chose to have a family day together to celebrate.  Shawn cooked our Thanksgiving meal and it was delicious!  We enjoyed turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, green beans, cranberry sauce and pumpkin pie.

As we reflect upon the past year, we realize we do have so much to be thankful for.  Thank you Lord for our health and safety, for our family and friends, for our home and church, and for the blessings each of our children bring to our lives!!  We give thanks!!

Henry helped make Grandma Eisenbath's dressing

He also led us in the prayer before the meal...he is really into "reading" prayer books and leading us in prayer these days :-)

Ready to eat!

Happy Halloween

This year for Halloween, we had a Captain America, Rose Fairy, Daniel Tiger and a tiny little giraffe in our home.  The kids enjoyed school parties, preschool trunk or treat, and trick or treating in the neighborhood.  Kimberly's parents were here for the trunk or treat while Mindy, Cody and Connor were here on halloween itself.  We enjoyed their company and the festivities with them.

Mom and Dad were great to help Shawn decorate the car and hand out candy at trunk or treat since I stayed home with the newborn.

Samuel's First Month

Samuel's first month flew by in the blink of an eye!  From birth, he nursed and slept well and is an easy baby.  From the moment we brought him home from the hospital, he fit right into the family like a glove.  He goes with the flow well and sleeps through an unbelievable amount of noise...with siblings who are 6, 4 and 2, it's rarely every quiet in our house!  The kids have all been so excited about him, it is so cute.  We are so thrilled to have him as a part of us! We love him so much!!!
Henry has been super excited to be a big brother

Sam cried with his first bath.  However since then, he has never cried in the bath again.

Snuggles with baby brother after bath.

Aunt Mindy, Uncle Cody and Connor came for a long weekend visit to meet Sam.  Connor was so interested in and gentle with the baby, we know he will be a great big brother in the spring!

Showered with attention from the kids

Sweet little October baby

Our friend, Libby, came and took some photos of Samuel for us.  So sweet!

A couple days old.

His first purposeful smile happened this month!  Love it!

Welcome SAMUEL FRANCIS PINTO!!!

On October 17th, we welcomed Samuel Francis into our family!  We were overjoyed that labor and delivery went well and he was born perfectly healthy!  He weighed 5 lb 13 oz and was 19 in long, which quickly earned him the nick name, little peanut :-)  We chose his actual name in honor of Samuel, the Old Testament prophet who was called by God as a young boy and served Him faithfully all his life.  Also his middle name is in honor of Saint Francis of Assisi and specifically Pope Francis, in hopes that their lives may be an inspiration to our young son some day.

A funny little side story to his name is that all throughout the pregnancy we were undecided for sure on his first name but knew we wanted to have his middle name be Francis in honor of the Pope.  Well,  Henry had heard the name Jorge (from a Clifford cartoon) early on and for some reason loved that name and so anytime someone asked him what his new brother would be called, he'd say "Jorge."  It got out of control..all his school teachers, gymnastics and sports tykes teachers, church nursery ladies and many of our family friends all heard from Henry that his name would be Jorge.  It was a running joke throughout the pregnancy.  It wasn't until after he was born and our good friends, and Sam's godparents, gave him a book entitled "Jorge from Argentina" did we realize the amazing coincidence (or not) that of course the Pope's real name is Jorge and Henry unknowingly was also suggesting naming him after the Pope.  It was meant to be!

The kids were all so excited to meet their little brother.  Henry in particular was super excited to become a big brother!  Kimberly's parents were able to arrive the day of his birth too!  It was wonderful to have them present to meet their 7th grandchild and to help with our older kids too!

Ready for the ride home from the hospital

Happy to be home
