Our second day was packed with some great hiking, tons more wildlife, and spectacular views! We entered the park driving along the Newfound Gap Road. We enjoyed the view of Newfound Gap Overlook and then hiked about 2.5 miles of the Appalachian Trail. Then we drove to Clingmans Dome and soaked up those views. We had a picnic lunch at Collins Creek picnic area and then drove the Cherokee, NC side of the park and saw Mingus Falls. On the way we also stopped at the Oconaluftee Visitor Center and Farm Museum. Then we took a scenic drive along the Blue Ridge parkway. Finally, we went to Saturday evening mass at St. Mary's in Gatlinburg. As we drove into the driveway of our cabin at the end of the day - we found 4 black bears!!!!...a mother bear eating berries off our picnic table that had fallen from the tree where her 3 cubs had climbed up in. We watched them for over an hour before they went away. It was so super cool! It was another day of amazing wildlife, flora and fauna - all so beautiful!!
