This year we were blessed to be able to participate in a Family Holy Week Mission locally our own town of Roswell, organized by Regnum Christi. On Holy Thursday evening we gathered at St. Peter Chanel for an opening inspiration talk by Fr. Brandenberg and one of the consecrated women. Then we all worked to assemble hundreds of gift bags full of toiletries and treats for a nursing home. We finished the evening with pizza dinner and mass of the Last Supper. On Good Friday, some families visited the nursing homes and others did major yard clean up projects for various SVDP families in need. We were a yard work crew, spending the whole morning, trimming, weeding, cutting and laying pine straw for an elderly women who is deaf and can't keep up the yard herself. In the afternoon, the kids enacted the Stations of the Cross for us and then many of us went to set up Christ's Closet for the next day. Friday evening we shared a spaghetti meal followed by the Good Friday prayer service at church. We spent all of Holy Saturday morning and afternoon, putting on a cook out, Easter egg hunt, and Christ Closet clothing, home goods and toy give away for a less fortunate community close by. We also squeezed in taking Sam to the SPC egg hunt! We always look forward to and enjoy mission and this year was no exception! It's such a wonderful tangible way to express our gratitude for God's great gift to us, by sharing His love with others. It's also such wonderful fellowship with other families also striving to raise their children in the faith.
Saturday evening we decorated our Easter eggs and then went to the Easter Vigil Mass. This was the first time we shared this most lovely mass with the kids and even despite the length, we all enjoyed it immensely and agreed we should do it again next year. Easter morning, the bunny left eggs to hunt in the front yard as well as baskets full of goodies! We spent the rest of the day, enjoying these treats and relaxing at home. It was a very Happy Easter!
