More Random Fall Activities

Despite many Covid restrictions, we were able to still able to have quite a nice fall with some fun activities.  The kids' school remained open the entire semester for in person schooling, thank goodness.  Queen of Angels has done an amazing job at finding new and creative ways to have their special performances and learning experiences.  Henry and Nicholas were also able to partake in some really neat scout activities!

Henry and several of his den mates attended the Tellus Museum day long S.T.E.M. NOVA Science Day - he learned all about electricity and also was able to enjoy the whole science center afterwards!

On Oct 28, Hurricane Zeta hit the Atlanta area...its was scary!  We don't usually get hurricane winds up to 70mph here like we did with this storm - we took the family to the basement in the middle the night for fear of one of the large trees in our back yard coming down on the house.  Thankfully, no trees hit the house, but the large center tree in out front yard came crashing down, just missing the house!  It was a 3 pronged tree and the other 2 parts were weakened by the fall so we ended up having to have the rest of it taken down a couple weeks later - we were sad to loose such a lovely white oak, however super thankful not any one or thing was hurt!!

Each year the 4th graders research saints and give a written, artistic and oral presentation of their saint.  It was modified a bit this year but Grace was still able to dress as St. Bernadette and present her saint to the parents.  She read aloud a prayer she wrote in first person to God from St Bernadette and she did a lovely job!  Then all the saints paraded around us - it was beautiful!  St. Bernadette pray us!

Henry is blessed to have a great friend in Colin - on a mini golf play date here.

Nov 1st starts winter dress uniforms - all the way till spring break.  I love having all 4 in that uniform this year!!!

To keep the kids in their homeroom cohorts, they couldn't have all school masses this year but each Friday a different grade has a turn to attend mass....in November kindergarten finally had their turn!  Doesn't Sam look angelic ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‡!

Nicholas went a 5 mile orienteering hike with Boy Scouts - learning how to navigate with a compass, very cool!

Nicholas also attended a weekend Rifle Merit Badge Clinic and earned the MB!

They camped and Nicholas was "fire master" for the troop - had to chop the wood, start and maintain the fire for the night for everyone!  Great job buddy!

Henry had a similar Cub Scout experience....he attended a day long Shooting Sports Event for Cub Scouts - learned how to shoot a sling shot, bee bee gun and bow and arrow!

We haven't really had guests in our home (other than 1st communion) since the start of the pandemic but we felt it important to support and feed our priests so hosted Fr Martin for dinner one night...always a great time with him!!

"Booing" is a fun past time on our neighborhood leading up to Halloween - here the kids are in their stealth mode, ready to "BOO" some neighbors with some goodies!

During Red Ribbon Week at school, they held "hat day" and Henry chose to wear this hat....Grandpa's K of C hat which was gifted to Shawn from Mom after Dad's passing.....He's a future Knight of Columbus, following in Grandpa's footsteps...no doubt!!!
