Shawn has been mentoring PA students from the Emory and Mercer programs for years. He has always enjoyed teaching them, and really works hard to be sure they have a good experience, teaching them how to sew, assist in surgery, and giving talks on anatomy and disease processes related to the procedures. Two years ago, Mercer honored him by presenting him with the Preceptor of the Year Award. And now this year, they asked him to be the keynote speaker at their white coat ceremony! He was of course very honored, and a little nervous. He wrote an amazing speech, however, focusing on the importance of the patient-clinician relationship. He also did a fantastic job delivering it! I was so proud to watch and listen to him up on the stage, it brought tears to my eyes. He is such a caring, compassionate, and skilled PA, I can't think of a better person to speak to a group of young eager students preparing to begin their patient care. I am so proud of you honey!
