This month, Grace has become the great imitator. She is so observant and loves to copy anything we do, and ESPECIALLY what Nicholas does. When he jumps, she tries to jump, when he reads books she reads books, and when he sits down at the table with me to do schoolwork, she automatically goes and gets the crayon box and some paper out and scoots out a chair so she can sit at the table to work too! While her spoken vocabulary is limited (mama, dada, book, bye-bye, hi, hat, up, hot) she clearly understands everything we say and listens well. When asked to clean up toys, she is great about picking things up and putting them all where they go. She has just finally gotten her 6th tooth and her hair sticks up more than ever in the back like a little peacock! She loves the outdoors, especially the swings at the park and feeling all the tree leaves. She has continued to really develop a love of books, very frequently bringing us books to read her throughout the day and sits still quite well for several in a row that are age appropriate for her. Her favorites seem to be ones with Sesame Street characters. While I limit the kids' TV to about an hour or two a week total at most, I do let them watch nursery rhymes sometimes while I am trying to prepare dinner. When I say "you can watch TV", she finds the remote, hands it to me, and then promptly sits in her same spot with her legs crossed ready to watch. She LOVES to ride the rocking horse these days and really gets it going fast. She also enjoys building with blocks (can stack about 5 tall now), riding her little bike, playing with shape sorters, and of course emptying drawers (her favorite is Nicholas' underwear drawer because she likes to put them on one leg and walk around proudly as if she dressed herself). Probably her biggest accomplishment this month however is she now officially sleeps through the night! It's been a long road getting there, but we actually moved her crib into Nicholas' room in preparation for the new baby coming, and after only 1 rough night, she has been sleeping all night long (8pm to 8am) every single night! Who knew that would be the trick! Thanks for a great month Gracie...you always make us smile!
