March 2021

March was full of a little of this and a little of that - here's a few highlights....

The 3rd grade put on a Famous Americans show.  Henry was Charles Lindbergh.  He researched and read all about him and then wrote a 3-4 sentence summary which he memorized and recited in first person in the play.  Each child did the same,  and then they all sang several songs, such as God bless America and the Tour of the States.  They also had a mini play illustrating how the Bald Eagle was chosen as our national bird.

Henry and Sam's closet needed a major overhauling in organization to make it more functional.  It was an all day project but we knocked it out as a family and it turned out great!  Unfortunately I forgot to get before and after pictures.

Sam has been really enjoying chess lately and these two are so sweet to watch play together.

For St. Patrick's Day, Samuel was super excited to make a trap to catch the Leprechaun...looks like he just missed him :-(

But the Leprechaun got us!!!!

We kept finding more and more crazy things all around the house that morning

It was a Wednesday morning so the kids went the Schoeneckes and these two buddies were excited to wear their hats to school for something green.

We typically have done Stations of the Cross as a family once or twice each Lent.  This year, however, we did it every single Friday, in a different way each week, all social distanced and Covid safe, and it was so spiritually nourishing!  Here's a picture of 1 of the two weeks where we went to the outdoor stations at St. Andrews parish along the Chattahoochee river and walked though the stations just our family.  Afterward we had some reflection time anther lovely Marion grotto.  One Friday, we live streamed SPC parish stations, another week did the Montessorri boxes at home, and another week we used Grace's new Jesus Tree to reflect on each station.

In Grace's 4th grade class, each child was assigned a station of the cross and was instructed to make an ornament, as simple or ornate as they wanted, and make 14 copies of it.  Then they had an ornament exchange and you bring them home and use just in the same way you'd use the scripture ornaments on a Jesse tree during Advent.  Again I forgot to get a picture of the tree with all the ornaments on it, but here is Grace's ornament that she made and sewed herself - 14 of them!

In Kindergarten, Samuel made a Stations of the Cross book which brought tears to my eyes, it was so beautiful!

Nicholas had a school project where he had to design and create a 3D model of a particular volcano, out of any medium he wanted to - he made Mt. Fuji out of cake, icing, candies and cookie crumbs!  I think it turned out awesome!

Shawn and I attended the Qof A Gala  - this year to be Covid safe - it was outside on the QA fields in a garden party style - lots of fun!

These two have gotten really tight lately - love it!!!!

This cherry tree in our yard is always so lovely in spring bloom!

Nicholas' 6th grade class read a Novel, A Long Walk to Water.  Then they eat created reflective signs which were posted along a 1-2 mile trail.  The kids each put a gallon jug of water in their backpacks and hiked the trail one by one, reflecting on the lives of the children in the book and so many others like it in this world.

Some of Samuels' creations on his Wednesday mornings at the 'Schoeneckes.

And the other kids' creations there one day.
