Typically January is a slower time around our house but it did not feel so this year. All three boys were playing on winter basketball teams - Nicholas and Henry through the church league and Samuel through Roswell Rec. Nicholas participated in Cotillion for the first time. Henry made his first reconciliation. We had some visitors, scout events, and some fun outings as well. Here are the highlights...
| Shawn's niece Mary Katherine and 4 of her friends stayed with us for several days while attending a Christian conference in Atlanta. |
| Just a nice brother moment |
| I helped Henry's 2nd grade class role clay beads to make rosaries. We are so excited for all of them as they are preparing for first reconciliation and first communion this year. |
| Nicholas and this band of 5th grade buddies attended 4 weeks of Cotillion classes this month. They learned to dance the ChaCha, the Box Step, and the Swing with a girl, including how to escort and serve a lady. They also learned the 5 S's of introductions and dining etiquette amongst other things. He wasn't excited to go, but I do think he enjoyed himself (though he likely won't admit it :-) |
| Nicholas escorting a lady and introducing themselves. |
| Dancing the ChaCha |
| Dancing with the lady who loves him the most!!! |
| This year for Christmas we gave Grace a Mother/Daughter shopping day - she chose to have lunch at American Girl Bistro, then shop around the mall and Kohl's for a few clothing items she needed. It was a lot of fun! |
| For Christmas we gave the boys tickets to go see the Harlem Globe trotters with Daddy. They had a blast!! |
| Not quite at the Globe Trotter level yet, Henry and these 2nd grade guys all played their hearts out in the SPC Tip off Basketball league this winter - Henry really had a lot of fun!! |
| While Nicholas and these 5th grade guys also played a great season and had a blast! |
| And last but not least - this scrappy little guy played his first ever season of basketball - you wouldn't believe the moves he's got!! |
Most of the time he was the smallest kid on the court (4-5yr old league) but he didn't seem to know it, weaving in and out of kids, making baskets left and right and was man on man for defense at all times!
| He didn't know any kids on his team but played against a few of his buddies, including Parker from school. |
| And Godmother Meghan came to watch him at another game. |
| A handful of scouts were invited to attend the Roswell City Council meeting and lead the Pledge of Allegiance. |
| Nicholas won first place in his school's 3-5th grade Religion Bee (pictured with Adam 2nd place and Lily 3rd place)!!! We are so very proud of him! Stay tuned to next month's post to see how he does going forward representing Queen of Angels in the Archdiocese Religion Bee :-) |
