This year we had an extra special family vacation because it included extended family as well! As a gift to my parents for their 60th birthdays and 40th wedding anniversary, we rented a beach house on Hilton Head Island, along with my sister Mindy and her family and brother Andy and his family. The week was full of great beach and pool time, sight seeing, hiking, as well as plenty of good food and family time together.
| The house had a nice little pool which we all enjoyed! |
| Fun pool tricks :-) |
| Hello beach!! |
| There was plenty of digging and a little castle building going on! |
| For the first time, Nicholas, Grace and Henry all tried to boogy board and they each loved it! Henry, because he is so light, was especially good at it (with a little help from Daddy catching the right wave). |
| He rode several waves all the way to the shore. |
| Grace loved her time with Grandma! |
| Sam warmed right up to Grandpa and Grandma. |
| Samuel enjoyed both the sand and the water. He had no fear what-so-ever of the ocean! He kept wanting to run right in alone…we really had to watch him close, but it was great to see how much he loved the beach!! |
| We had one rainy day so went to visit the Mighty 8th Air Force Museum in Savannah with Grandma and Grandpa. Very cool place! |
| One day we visited the Coastal Discovery Museum. The kids put together several puzzles and played games learning about the local wildlife and the low country ecosystem. Nicholas and I also enjoyed a nice game of checkers that he won :-) |
| They really liked the little butterfly house outside at the museum. |
| One night we took the older three kids to see Gregg Russell perform under the Live Oak in Sea Pines. All three really enjoyed sitting on the stage, watching the show, and then having an ice cream cone at the end! |
| Just relaxing at the house, having fun with Grandma and cousin Connor. |
| The guys enjoyed a day of golf one day. |
| While the men golfed, we took the kids to a playground and then back to the house to cool off in the pool! |
| We spent one day in Sea Pines Plantation. First we hiked a little while through the marshy forest. Because of the recent rain (tropical storm), it was pretty muddy, so we couldn't explore the trails too far. |
| We saw a few of these guys in the pond!!!! |
| Grace liked the wildflower area |
| A nice hike with cousin Connor (and Matthew, Aunt Mindy and Uncle Cody too) |
| We enjoyed a little picnic after our hike. |
| Then off to the playground for some fun! |
| Sam and Matthew are 6 months apart but the same size…so cute together! |
| It was hot….so pink lemonade was necessary to cool off! |
| Samuel found a cute little boat outside a store which he loved rocking it. |
| Silly kiddos! |
| Daddy and Henry climbed to the top of the lighthouse to enjoy the view. |
| And they had fun tossing some pebbles into the bay there. |
| Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad! We loved spending time with you and everyone! |
