January Fun

Our month of January was not lacking in fun activities.  We even had a very small snow/ice storm which amounted to only about half inch of ice with a dusting of snow on top.  However the kids had 2 days off school as well as some great sledding fun in our yard and in the neighborhood.  We took advantage of the cold weather to use our fireplace for the first time ever.  This led to plenty of cozy family game nights in front of the fire, in addition to the pizza/movie nights on Fridays which have become a regular routine for us.  Cub Scout activities, Ballet showcases, a First Communion retreat, and basketball games filled the rest of the weekends.   It was a blessed month!

The kids had a blast in the snow, even if it was just a tiny bit!

We all loved the coziness of the fireplace.

Samuel is as cute as can be these days, however also quite mischievous........

On more than one occasion he was caught scooting over a chair to steal cookies from the cookie jar!

Since the first of the year, Samuel decided he was no longer going to take naps!!!!  When left to at least "rest" in his room for a bit, this is what happened......every wipe and diaper removed and strung out in the room along with every bit of his clothes emptied from the drawers of his dresser (notice the small basket turned up side down near the dresser in order to stand on to get to the top drawer!). All he would say each time I said how upset I was etc. was "Sorry about that."

So as bad as it is, I have resorted to simply letting him watch a show on the iPad for a bit in the afternoon, in lieu of a nap, so that we can each have a bit of a break!  Just this once he actually fell asleep...most days he just isn't tired enough!  I sure wish I had his energy!!!

Nicholas attended the SPC First Communion retreat one Saturday afternoon and truly enjoyed it.  Here , during a lesson on Baptism, he was chosen to act as the priest in a mock baptism.  He is getting very excited to make his next sacrament in a few short months!

I enjoyed watching Grace dance during the annual parent watch day.  They are certainly learning  much more difficult moves this year!
